Hydro Schemes & River Deepening

Blast Design have carried out blasting for the installation of hydro schemes throughout Scotland. We have also used pioneering techniques in river deepening and stepping of waterfalls which allow migratory fish species (such as salmon) to return upstream in greater numbers. This work has been carried out with Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board. Recent work includes 'Cargill's Leap' on the River Ericht and the falls at Glen Tilt, just below Loch Loch.

Blasting

Blast Design can offer an efficient rock blasting service based on years of experience blasting in most rock types in often inhospitable conditions. Whether it is a nuisance boulder or large rock outcrop hindering a development, Blast Design can cater for all rock blasting needs. Our main experience in this area comes from years of blasting on the west coast of Scotland and the western isles for new power lines. All areas of rock blasting undertaken - trenching, ponds, roads.

Tree Stump & Trunk Blasting

This is useful where there is no heavy plant access to the site, or where use of heavy plant would be detrimental to the eco-system. A tree stump or trunk can be 'blasted' into smaller, more manageable pieces and removed from site, or left to breakdown. This shattering effect aids fast breakdown of the timber while creating a habitat for fauna and flora. It also gives the woodland a more natural look.
